Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC)

The Heart of Greenwich Village is a NNORC, which stands for Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community. A NNORC is an area with a large number of older adults.

 

The state’s NNORC Program was created to aid seniors in staying healthy and active and to receive help in their homes. VillageCare has partnered with other community agencies to provide a wide range of NNORC services.

 

Some services provided include:

  • Initial in-home health screening and social assessment.
  • Follow-up checkups as needed.
  • Assistance with understanding and obtaining benefits and entitlements for:
  • Medical care coordination
  • Primary care
  • Specialists
  • Other medical services
  • Social services
  • Friendly visiting
  • Socialization
  • In-home meal programs
  • Home attendant services
  • Free lectures and seminars
